Prashant Tamang

Prashant Tamang — a 24-year-old, from Tungsung, Darjeeling, West Bengal has been selected for Indian Idol (one of the biggest singing talent-hunt contests in the country) in the top 28, out of 25000 contestants across the country. His show being telecast on June 2 from Sony channel at 9 pm. In this round, his fate depends on the number of votes he gets through SMS votes (Prashant - 2525) and calls from landlines.

Indian Idol - from DarjeelingIf you r watching Indian Idol 3...you have to watch it this Friday (11th) and Saturday (12th) because they will be showing Kolkata audition. In this episode you will see Prashant Tamang, one of St. Robert's ex-students, who has already qualified for the Mumbai round and has reached the last group of 28, passing through 3 qualifying rounds in Mumbai. He lost his father when he was studying in class 10 in the year 2001. So, he had left school to join Calcutta Police where he has been working for the last 5 years. It was a blessing in disguise for him because in Kolkata, he got a chance to sit for the audition for Indian Idol. He used to sing from the time he joined class 5. He used to come 1st or 2nd every time in inter-class singing competitions. He also got a chance to sing solo in their concerts. Yesterday, he was in Darj with the Sony TV crew in the school as he had told them that he learnt singing from my dad (Deep Waiba) and Pema Lama while studying at St. Robert’s. Three young professionals from Sony TV did a lot of videography with him in the school including shots of the whole school singing hymns, boys playing in the field etc. At the end they took some interviews....I guess you can watch these clips inlater episodes of the Indian Idol show! Keep watching and please ask all darjeelingeys, who are in India and their friends to SMS vote for Prashant Tamang...I guess only people in India can vote!!.....So lets keep our fingers crossed and wish the best for Prashant Tamang!!!!!!!!!!

Indian Idol - 3Indian Idol - 3Guys, have you seen the Indian Idol -3 audition from Kolkatta.Here, is our Nep-Boy "Prashanth Tamang" from kolkatta, Darjeeling Based, as a soldier in Indian Police Force.Hase got excellent Voice.Judges commented , he has unique voice and style.He sings songs very well, very easily with comfort zone, which amazed and impressed teh judges, though he has got some prob with hindi fluency/pronounciation in some words.All the way, he was selected for Mumbai round.So, its good opportunity to win the Indian Idol-3 by our Boy.Watch his performance and cheers him up !!

just now, i had come to know that he had made it to next piano round........its really great !Now, we need to support from backstage !! by voting him.As It would be encouragement to our nep aspirant singers to participate in such a show, so that they can be prove neps guys/gals are not less than anyone in singing.Really it would be great achievment for the nep people if he made to atleast top-3.We should not make his effort waste......Nep Folks all over the corner of the world, please support your Nep Indian Idol.I will post next....for his SMS number and Phone number on his name to Vote.

i think twas last last sunday when i watched Indian idol for the first time, and i watched it towards the end, i did not see him sing, dont care how well he sings---i mean the tamang guy....what pissed me off was that prejudiced short chic, i want to rip her head off for treating this boy so badly......

Aah i never had the oppurtunity to watch TV lately and have not been in track with whats going on .........it was just yesterday seeing the scraps and messages in orkut that i came to know of this bhai Prashant Tamang ......and lo when i watched his uploaded Indian Idol Videos ........i loved him sing. I just saw one of his videos ...as just one was uploaded the " Ya ali " ...and he really he sings his heart out. Fabulous performance.Thanx to the guys and gals who have spread Prashants performance messages lke wild fire in Orkut .....the fire is spreading .....keep it up everybody.I am definitely voting for him. just now, i have seen the Prashanth Performance in the song " A Kash ke hum........"Marvalous, i am really impressed that he has got so mealodious voice and he can sing any song very easily without being trained professionally, really impressed by all the judges, our nep boy has hitting sixers to boundaries and really keeping our nep pride up.Really hats-off !! we neps are not less in anything...............Singing is passion in our blood, which we nep people know, but through Prash, we are albe to prove to all indian and the world that we can sing any regional song, so fluently without mother tongue effect.............hats off to PrashKeep contuniung .............this we are all their to support you.......................Nepali ko maan rakhaaaaaaaaaa !!

He wants to become the Indian Idol to prove himself and make the Kolkata police proud. He was in the Special Armed Force and has been working with the Kolkata police since 2002. June 3: The headquarters of Kolkata Police at Lalbazar and all the police stations in the city have been flooded with posters requesting the cops to vote for one of their colleagues who is participating in the Indian Idol 3. A constable of the seventh battalion of the Kolkata Police, Mr Prasant Tamang, is a vocalist in the city police’ band. He is now in Mumbai to compete in the Indian Idol competition. The 24-year-old youth is a resident of Darjeeling district. Joint commissioner of police (armed police) Mr Zulfikar Hassan said nearly 1,500 posters and a few hoarding had been circulated all around the city by Kolkata Police. The posters have been put up on the walls at the Kolkata Police head quarters, local police stations, bodyguard lines and all other establishments of the city police. Not a single paisa was, however, used from the Kolkata Police funds. The entire money was contributed by their colleagues. “The idea is to increase the chances of the constable who is competing in the Indian Idol. The city police has a 26,000-strong force and if each one of us votes for him through SMS, then he will be in an advantageous position. The rest will depend on his performance”. On Saturday, when Mr Tamang’s performance was aired on a television channel, his colleagues had a gala time watching his performance on a giant screen at the Body Guard lines at Alipore. A senior police officer said: “His performance was shown on a giant screen after a function which was organised for chief minister Mr Buddhadeb Bhttacharjee to inaugurate the seventh barrack building. Hundreds of policemen had gathered on the spot to cheer for their colleague who is now performing in the Indian Idol”. He also said that Mr Tamang was well-known for his talent among his colleagues but was not getting the encouragement to participate in big competitions. It was after the Indian Idol 2 that he showed interest in participating in the competition and was encouraged by his colleagues. The news soon reached the top brass of Kolkata Police (armed police) who made the necessary arrangements.
