DARJEELING: A Reliance outlet was damaged and its hoardings and kiosks burnt on Saturday, following widespread protests against cellular service providers by the people of the hill town. They were upset when they found that their SMSes in favour of Indian Idol contestant Prashant Tamang had not been delivered. Young men and women took out a rally in the morning, protesting the inefficiency of cellular service providers to deliver SMSs, supporting Prashant. Although all cellular service providers were blamed for the fiasco, Reliance had to bear the brunt of it as it has the largest number of customers in the hills.
