The Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur (GSUD) has also celebrated the193rd birth anniversary of Adi Kabi Bahnu Acharya with the rest of the world on Friday with Akum Longchari, managing director and publisher of Morung Express as the chief guest.
Bhanu Bhakata Acharya the pioneer of Nepali language the first ever poet and author amongst millions of Nepalese also known as Adi Kabi who was born on 1814 in Tanahu district of Nepal is being remembered for his great and immense contribution to the Nepali community.
Akum Longchari termed Bhanu as a great “social reformer” and said that it was his humbleness which had left a relevant inspiration to the populace of present generation.
Akum also stated that the legacy of the great social reformer had left a deep impact to the people which are still relevant to the present humanity.
The teaching of Bhanu reflects the values of life and his contribution was not focused to Gorkha community alone but also to the whole human race. “It enriched the culture, language and the values of life,” Akum said and described the Gorkhas as honest and dignified people.
A brief life sketch of Bhanu was delivered by Suk Kumar Pradhan, president Gorkha Union Dimapur and short speech was also delivered by Mayang Jamir, general secretary of DNSU. During the celebration thirteen students from HSSLC and HSLC were felicitated.
Earlier the programme started with the welcome address by Rupak Chetri followed by garlanding of the portrait by the chief guest while the vote of thanks was proposed by Rajesh Gurung.
The programme was followed by a cultural entertainment from various groups of Gorkhas.
Meanwhile, the Gorkha students union has wished all the best to the Prashant Tamang, Indian Idol and requested all individuals to cast their vote for him.
